Welcome to PTFA Tettenhall Wood School
My name is Julie Callender and I’m chair of PTFA Tettenhall Wood School. The PTFA is a registered charity and the other committee members (trustees) are Donna Stevens (Treasurer) Roger Callender and Jenny Charnell Kear. We all have children who have attended or still attend TWS.
For parents new to school, I’d like to personally welcome you to into the school community as a new parent at Tettenhall Wood School, you’re automatically a member of the PTFA. It’s a quick way to get to know parents with children in other years and members of staff. A big welcome back to all existing parents of school.
When you support us, you’re not just baking a cake, attending an event, or giving up your time by volunteering – you’re buying play equipment for your child to use at break time, technology for their classroom, books for the school library and fun learning experiences. You’re also making new friends, strengthening the school community, and helping to make your child’s school an even better place. It’s great for the kids too – there’s a direct link between parental involvement at school and how well children do. Being involved in the PTFA not only improves your child’s school, but it also makes you an excellent role model.
Our goal is to provide the funding to help enhance and further the children’s learning experiences and opportunities. Our funds benefit all the children and come from the fundraising initiatives and events we hold during the school year. The last couple of years have been difficult for fundraising but the PTFA managed to secure significant grants towards a new minibus which, as a lighter model, can be driven by more members of staff and will make it easier to arrange trips out for the pupils. We hope to take delivery soon and will hold a celebration event around this.
It would be a great opportunity to meet you there. PTFA will of course let you know the dates.
This year we are again be organising the Christmas Card project. Pupils design their own cards for families to purchase if they wish.
In recent years, we’ve funded playground equipment and class wishlists.
We have also provided Easter eggs for the pupils and Christmas gifts.
We encourage staff, parents and carers to register at “Easyfundraising”:
https://www.easyfundraising.org.uk/causes/ptfatettenhallwoodschool/
It costs absolutely nothing but we have raised nearly £600 to date. Please have a look online if you can.
We can also benefit from “your school lottery”:

If you would like to take part just go the link above and search for “Tettenhall”. Our PTFA link is the first one in the list that opens.
We all have something to give. Even if you have younger children at home or only a small amount of time could you come to a meeting, help set up an event, serve food or design a poster? Perhaps you have a professional skill you could help us out with? You don’t have to come into the school; many of our volunteering tasks can be done from home. The most important skills you can bring are enthusiasm and a willingness to get stuck in.
If you would like to become involved in PTFA you can contact us on twsptfa@tettenhallwoodschool.org.uk
I look forward to getting to know you,
Julie Callender
