Sleeping Beauty Theatre Trip
We are delighted to share that we are planning an exciting opportunity for all pupils to attend a pantomime performance of Sleeping Beauty at the Grand Theatre in Wolverhampton on Thursday 11th and Friday 12th December. This will be a memorable experience designed especially with our pupils’ needs in mind.
The performance is a relaxed performance, making it suitable for pupils with SEND. This means the theatre environment will be adapted to reduce sensory overload, allow flexibility for movement, and create a welcoming atmosphere where everyone can enjoy the show comfortably. We believe this will be a wonderful chance for pupils to experience live theatre in an inclusive and supportive setting. If you want to know more about the Grand Theatres’ relaxed showing, please see link: https://www.grandtheatre.co.uk/relaxed-performances/
We are pleased to confirm that this trip is fully funded by the school, so there will be no cost to parents.
Key arrangements for the day:
- Arrival and Departure:Pupils will come into school as normal. We expect to return by approximately 1:15–1:45pm, and pupils will finish the day as usual.
- Transport:Local authority transport will remain on site to support travel to the theatre. Loading will begin around 10:00am. Pupils will travel with their class group, but please note they may be on a different bus and with a different driver than usual journey into school.
- Meals and Snacks:
- Pupils will have brunch before leaving, snacks during the show, and those who normally have a school dinner will take a packed lunch.
- If your child normally brings a packed lunch, please provide this as normal.
- Additional snacks at the theatre will be funded by the school. Pupils who are able to will choose snacks at the counter; pupils needing support will have symbolised/photo options, and snacks will be brought to them.
- Clothing:Pupils should wear their usual school uniform and bring a coat suitable for the weather.
Dates for each class:
- Thursday 11th December:Classes 10 to 17
- Friday 12th December:Classes 1 to 9
We appreciate that, for a very small number of pupils, attending the theatre may still be distressing. For these pupils, we have arranged an alternative pantomime experience within the school grounds. Teachers will contact you directly if this applies to your child.
If you feel that attending the theatre is not suitable for your child, please let us know as soon as possible so that we can make appropriate arrangements. However, we are pleased to confirm that there are enough tickets for the whole school to attend.
If you do not wish for your child to attend the panto please fill out the form below.
