Families, learners and staff came together for a fantastic Family Celebration Day at Tettenhall Wood School on Thursday 16th, creating a memorable day filled with fun, connection and community spirit.
The event brought together families from across the school community and provided an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of the school's autistic learners and those with complex learning needs in a relaxed, inclusive and welcoming environment.

Throughout the day, learners enjoyed a wide range of activities including inflatables, obstacle courses, sensory play opportunities, games, bubbles and a variety of interactive experiences. A particular highlight was the performance from Rachel the Bubbleologist, whose incredible displays captivated learners and families alike.

The school's PTFA played a vital role in making the event possible, organising stalls, refreshments, a bottle tombola and raffle. Through their dedication and fundraising efforts, the PTFA helped create an accessible, family-centred event that enabled many families to enjoy experiences and activities that may not otherwise have been available to them. Their commitment ensures that opportunities for connection, fun and community are accessible to all.
The School Council also made a significant contribution to the fundraising efforts by organising a popular "Beat the Goalie" challenge. Executive Headteacher Ross Ashcroft stepped between the posts as learners, families and staff eagerly tested their football skills. The challenge raised additional funds for the PTFA while bringing plenty of laughter and friendly competition to the day.

Deputy Headteacher Beth Catton said:
"Our Family Celebration Day was a wonderful opportunity to bring our school community together. Seeing our learners enjoying activities alongside their families, building relationships, developing confidence and creating positive memories was incredibly special. We are extremely grateful to our PTFA, School Council, staff, volunteers and families for their support. The dedication of our PTFA helps make events like this possible and creates valuable opportunities that enrich the lives of our autistic learners and their families."

The event reflected Tettenhall Wood School's commitment to working in partnership with families and creating meaningful opportunities for autistic children and young people to thrive both in and beyond the classroom. It also showcased the importance of learner voice, with the School Council taking an active leadership role in planning and delivering one of the day's most successful fundraising activities.
The PTFA is always keen to hear from local businesses and community organisations who would like to support fundraising initiatives for the school. Whether through sponsorship, donations, raffle prizes, volunteering or partnership opportunities, support from the local community helps create enriching experiences and opportunities for autistic learners and their families. Anyone interested in supporting the PTFA's work can contact the team at TettenhallPTFA@aatrust.co.uk  to find out more about upcoming fundraising projects and events.

Tettenhall Wood School would like to thank everyone who attended, volunteered, donated and supported the event. Together, they helped create a truly successful celebration of inclusion, belonging and community for autistic children, young people and their families.
