‘Supporting Schools. Enabling Inclusion’

The purpose of the Wolverhampton Outreach Service is to maintain the mainstream placement of children with additional needs, by transferring skills from special school settings into the mainstream school. This includes training for school staff and practitioner led support.

Under the coordination of Dr Eve Griffiths, the service is made up of teachers and TLSAs from across four of the City’s Special Schools, Broadmeadow, Penn Hall, Penn Fields and Tettenhall Wood.

Staff on the team have experience in all four areas of need, including autism and social emotional and mental health needs.

As working teachers ourselves, we understand the curious challenges of the classroom and so offer support that is grounded in successful classroom practice, whilst being both practical and empathetic. We aim to empower teachers to believe in their own ability to meet the needs of all children, cascading our own skills and sharing the expertise and experiences of the special school classroom.
